Rube Goldberg #23

Just finished building rube goldberg #23! I'm now going into the testing stage. Hopefully the finished video will by out this weekend. I decided to go with the theme of clicking a computer mouse. What should I have the mouse click on my computer? I was thinking it could be something with minecraft. My second channel  has a series called Minecraft Interaction where I build whatever the comments on the previous episode tell me to build. Thanks for reading and I'll talk to you guys later.

Cat Solves Rubik's Cube

Short new video i've created this week featuring my awesome cat Moof. He didn't want to cooperate with the treats because he was fed before I wanted him to trigger the Rube Goldberg. If youtube monetization was a little faster I would already have the bloopers video public by now. The link to the original video is below. Let me know in the comments what you want me to have Moof do next.

Featured on Community Channel

Hey everybody! A few weeks ago I submitted a video to a channel called Amazinglife247. After receiving a message saying he would use it and show it too his subscribers, I grew excited. Now many people that saw his video, came over to mine and decided to subscribe to me. My channel has grown because of it and I'm now near reaching the milestone of one thousand subscribers. Thanks 2bucks for helping me out and I'm looking forward to my video's future.

Thanks for reading. :)

Youtube Subscribing Rube Goldberg

I just recently finished a rube goldberg machine that ends by pushing a button on a laptop to subscribe to someone on youtube. I'm no sure why I chose that theme. If you have a suggestion for how I should end my next chain reaction, leave an idea in the comments.

5300 Homemade Dominoes

This amazing domino chain reaction was made out of homemade dominoes. The creators name is MikeMazeguy. Result of about $100 worth of materials and a whole lot of man-hours. If you enjoy seeing weekly chain reactions that I find around the web, become a member and follow my blog. Thanks :)

Rube Goldberg Contest 2012

I post behind the scenes information on this blog that you normally wouldn't find out about by being subscribed to my youtube account. Last year TheSprice17 started an annual youtube rube goldberg competition. Check out the video from 2011 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJAJ747_eLY. This year he asked me if I was interested in helping him host it and I accepted. More information will gradually be leaked about the prizes and rules of this years contest. If you are interested in entering stay in touch. Thanks for reading. If you have any questions make sure you ask them in the comments below. I respond to all questions/comments!

Mixing it Up

Instead of ending my rube goldbergs with the same picture of "DoodleChaos" falling over, I'm going to mix it up a bit. Every RGM I make in the future will have a task that it is actually completing. I had an idea to make my next one end with a button being pushed on my laptop that subscribes to a youtube channel. Let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for reading. :)

75 Rube Goldberg Ideas

These short screen linked clips can help you with school projects or making your own chain reaction. This video is intended to help individuals obtain ideas and/or inspiration for building their own Rube Goldberg Machine. It is not meant to look like one actual machine. It is simply screenlinked to give more flow and continuity to the video. Each video is linked via a phone or skype call (when an annotation will guide you to the next video) so that no matter which video you begin with, you will be able to see all 75 of our ideas in a combined screenlink (There is no Part 1 or so on, it is continuous).

It took a few years to create. I believe the creator's name is Rob Higgs. Enjoy.

Secret Project

I've been working on a huge "collab" with a few other great youtubers who make rube goldberg machines. It is coming along great! I'm working on it during whatever free time I can find. It is getting tough because I am so busy. After many days of work most of us are passing the half way done milestone. Make sure you stay tuned to DoodleChaos so you don't miss it. Rube Goldberg of the Week + Q&A

Allonewordplease is back with a new Rube Goldberg! The creators of Cream that Egg finished this creation that ultimately turns the page of a newspaper. In the process a hamster and falling laptop come into play. With well over 5 million views this viral video shows no sign of stopping. Check it out below.

Would anyone be interested in having a question and answer session? If you need help with a rube goldberg machine for school, for fun, or anything else just post a comment. I'll try to answer as soon as possible.

My Video Categories

I've made so many videos that playlists are starting to help me out with organization. The first playlist I made was just a simple collection of rube goldberg machines that I numbered off by 1 2 3 etc. After starting new a new series called Red VS Blue (Marble Races), I discovered that having all my videos go under a certain category was way more convenient then just having random clips everywhere. Here is a collection of all my playlists. Enjoy.

New Wooden Marble Ramps

Today I made some sketchy wooden marble runs. First I smashed a few nails into some boards and stretched rubber bands between them. I decided to make the second one with a different plan. Nails were hit into the board much like the first one, but instead of tying bands between them I fastened "zip ties" to create the track. The end product was useful, even though it didn't look the best. In a future rube goldberg it would make a great time consumer. I might make a video on my second channel DoodleChaos2 showing them in action. Tons of people on youtube have made wire marble contraptions. I've thought about trying to make one but I'm not quite sure how to start. Just another future project possibility. In the meantime, I better start cleaning up after RGM #20. :)

Cream That Egg!

Allonewordplease did an amazing job on this Rube Goldberg that results in smashing an egg. The creativity and length shows it must have taken many days of hard work. My favorite part was at about 1:50 when the marbles appeared to be floating down the glass. Every week I'll be posting new and noteworthy creations for your enjoyment.

Supplies

I just finished Rube Goldberg #20! It turned out excellent in my opinion. I've been using mostly the same supplies for about a year now and I decided that today would be a good day to shop for some more materials. Mostly wood or metal ramps etc. Hopefully it will add a whole new feel to my videos.

Update: If you want to see how many times I had to reset RGM #20 my new video shows them all: FAILS

Rube Goldberg Tips/Tutorials

After building rube goldbergs for over a year, I have learned many tricks that can help you along the way. If you are looking for help in a school assignment these tips may help.

1. Supplies - Finding good supplies is essential before starting to build. If everything isn't easy to access right next to your working area you will find yourself getting frustrated. Useful tools such as dominos or wooden blocks will make up the majority of your creation.

2. Popsicle Sticks - Mass amounts of any object can be very useful. My favorite is popsicle sticks. To learn how to make a simple chain reaction using nothing but dominos and some popsicle sticks click this link: VIDEO

3. Simple Trigger - One of the easiest ways to start a rube goldberg is with a ping pong ball rolling down a ramp. The possibilities after that are endless. In this video I demonstrate how to simply trigger a new step in the chain reaction. Link: VIDEO

4. AutoTilt - I commonly use a simple time consumer that I call "autotilt". It works by having a ball roll down a tilted ramp. On the other end of the ramp is a counterweight. When the ball knocks over the counterweight the center of gravity shifts and the ball rolls back to the other end. Click here to see it in action: VIDEO

What I Do

"A Rube Goldberg machine, contraption, invention, device, or apparatus is a deliberately over-engineered or overdone machine that performs a very simple task in a very complex fashion, usually including a chain reaction."

Hello everybody! I'm fascinated by cool contraptions called Rube Goldberg Machines. If you don't know what they are, check out this example below.

My channel has been gradually growing for a few years now and it's getting exciting. I'm finding more and more people that enjoy watching these and building them like me. Any new videos that are released on my channel will now be posted here also. So if you want to be notified go ahead and follow me if you want. I read all comments so if you have any questions feel free to ask. :)
